INTERNOS

THE ARCTIC CIRCLE
Internos, meaning between our selves, focuses on the identifiable presence of the artist as the observer whose perception has an effect on the subject of her investigation. As a further development from the Edens series, these works reflect on the artist having discarded the anthropological gaze within her work. The implications of constructing narratives from studies into mythologies has consciously brought forth the artist’s own conceptual reality. Which is even more pronounced in the silence and stillness of the Arctic Circle where this series is based. The Moth symbologically represents the inner fictional narratives that formed in response to its empirical surroundings. The tension between engagement and disengagement from the outer world and the inner world suggest that a more abstract reality is present. Thus, a structuralist approach to derive meaning has been replaced in favour of emotional resonance.
